FabSLAM Showcase, Boise Idaho

On May 14, 2016, we jumped on a plane at 5:30 a.m. and headed to Boise. For most of us, this was our first time on a plane and for several of us, it was our first time to ever go to Boise. The FabSLAM Showcase included 14 other schools who were also part of this project and it was held at the Idaho Discovery Center and open to the public. This whole project was started because the Idaho STEM Action Center partnered with The Digital Harbor Foundation in Baltimore and Idaho was invited to participate.

This FabSLAM Showcase Event was a time for us to share our experience and present our project to a panel of five judges and then to the public. What was really great is we got to practice by presenting to the teams from other schools and their teachers and parents, and listening to their presentations before the judging started. It really helped us get new ideas and tweak parts of our presentation before the judging. None of us had ever done public speaking before and this was a huge event. The Boise news was there with huge cameras and reporters putting us on the news live! It was very nerve wracking, but in the end, we did a pretty good job and felt great about the whole experience. We only hope we get to do it again sometime.
